Nice to meet you Bellmore and Merrick!
My name is Michael Ganci, and I am the new editor of Bellmore and Merrick Patch. Being that I have lived in Bellmore since I was a baby, it feels nice to be home.
I am well aware of the issues going on in the local area. I attended Jacob Gunther Elementary School, followed by Grand Avenue Middle School and then Mepham High School.
After my four years at SUNY Oneonta, I returned home and freelanced for Patch before being hired as the editor of East Meadow Patch in August of 2010. I spent the last two years covering that area, and I’m excited to bring my flavor to the Bellmore-Merrick community.
Many of you may recognize my name, and that’s because my mother, Virginia Ganci, was very active as my two sisters and I have gone through school. My mom was the president of the North Bellmore P.T.A. council, and she knows everyone. We often refer to her as “The Mayor” because of all of her connections.
I am very excited to tackle local issues, whether it’s from the civic organizations in the area or simply from a concerned resident’s email. I encourage all of you to reach out to me and let me know which stories matter to you, because I am the provider and you are the consumer.
To reach me, you can email Michael.Ganci@patch.com or call 516-785-1503. Whether it’s to give me a news tip or anything else, my door is always open, and I appreciate all the help you give me.
Again, I am excited to start this new adventure with you, and please let me know if I can assist you in any way.
All the best,
Mike
