Weekly Recap: Cheerleading Champs, Intel Semifinalists

  1. Mepham HS Varsity Cheer Wins 5th in NATIONALS, 3rd in Worlds HS competition: After taking the title of State Champions, the Mepham Varsity Cheerleaders placed 5th in the Nation on Feb 9, 2013 in the Small Coed Varsity Division.
  2. TOH Honors Intel Semifinalists: Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray recently joined with Councilwoman Angie Cullin and Councilman Gary Hudes in congratulating Intel Science Talent Search Semifinalists Joshua Pollock of Merrick, Emma McNamara of North Merrick and Corey Wald of North Bellmore.  
  3. WATCH: Idol Alums Perform for Sandy Relief: Superstorm Sandy brought extreme devastation to Long Island's South Shore communities, but it also motivated local communities to band together and even inspired an American Idol reunion recently.
  4. Lakeside Kids Jump Rope for American Heart Association: Rather than eating chocolate or candy on Valentine’s Day, the sixth graders at Levy-Lakeside Elementary School took a healthy approach to raise money and awareness for the American Heart Association.
  5. Camp Avenue Changes Parking Procedures: Since Wednesday, Feb. 20, cones are now located curbside at the north side of Camp Avenue. The aim is to prevent parking along this stretch of roadway.
