inclusion in the 15th edition of Top Doctors: New York Metro Area.
Published by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., the acclaimed guide
spotlights the top 10 percent of primary care and specialty care
physicians in the tri-state New York area.
This is the second honor that Nauheim, chief of ophthalmology at
South Nassau, has received in as many months. In
September, he was named to the Consumers’ Research Council of America
“Guide to America’s Top Ophthalmologists” for the third consecutive
year.
Nauheim specializes in treating problems such as double vision, optic
nerve disorders, visual/eye movement disorders, cataracts, diseases of
the retina, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and macular degeneration.
Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Nauheim is a
Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at SUNY Stony Brook School of
Medicine. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University and
medical degree from SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine.
In 1984, Nauheim completed an internship at The Long Island College
Hospital and residency training at Nassau University Medical Center in
1988. He completed a fellowship in cornea and external disease at the
prestigious Eye & Ear Institute of Pittsburgh in 1989.
Nauheim is active in research, lecturing and publishing papers on
ophthalmology and is on the teaching faculty at North Shore University
Hospital and Nassau University Medical Center. He has presented at
national and international institutions and meetings, including the
American Academy of Ophthalmology and the New York Academy of Medicine.
He has also been published in prestigious peer reviewed journals such as
the Archives of Ophthalmology.
