April 9: Trailblazer Award, New Readers' Choice

Five things you need to know today.

1. This week is National Library week! Take advantage to everything your libraries have to offer while your kids are out of school. It's a great way to meet new people, try new things and grab some good reads too!

2. A Merrick business owner was recently given the Trailblazer Award by Legis. Dave Denenberg. Come back at 5 p.m. to see who she is and why she won.

4. Where is your favorite place to buy sporting goods in your hometown? Nominate your favorite shop for this week's Readers' Choice awards.

5. The Town of Hempstead will be holding several arts & crafts sessions for children at local parks, as part of its children’s activities series. The spring program will run at Salisbury Park Drive Ball Fields in East Meadow and runs on Saturdays from April 14 to June 2 from 10 to 11 a.m. This program is free for TOH residents.
