More Than 9,700 Merokeans Still Without Power

Another day has come and gone, and many Merrick residents are still without power.

According to the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) Storm Center Outage Map, 9,701 customers are still down in Merrick, which the majority of them being south of Camp Avenue. 12,338 customers have been served, as of Nov. 1 at 10 a.m.

Just southwest of where Meadowbrook Road and Sunrise Highway meet, 2,314 people are in the dark. Another 2,720 are out just south of Merrick Road in that same area.

As you reach the southern tip of Merrick, an additional 1,302 customers are out. 

In North Merrick, 1,035 are down just northwest of the Camp Avenue and Merrick Avenue intersection, and there are several pockets of other outages throughout the Merrick area.

All of the larger pockets of outages are in the assessing condition phase, according to LIPA's website.

As of Nov. 1 at 10 a.m., 684,383 customers remain without power island wide, and there are still 5,115 active outages.

As Sacristan at Cure of Ars, I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Rich (as I called him) for some time. He was a man of faith and a pleasure to see. Always with a smile and kind word, you would never know what was going on the way he acted. This was a wonderful and insightful article. It is heartbreaking to think that where there was once love between 2 people, things got to the point where one persons life was destroyed by those who could and did for no apparent reason other than having the ability to do so. God will have mercy on Dr. Rich and the ex-wife and "Judge" should pray for the same given their actions.
