Merrick Kiwanis to Show Free Movie for Sandy Victims

The Merrick Kiwanis Club will host a free showing of "Escape from Planet Earth" at Merrick Cinemas on Feb. 18, according to the Merrick Herald.

Doors will open at 9:30 a.m., and the film will begin at 10 a.m. Free soda and popcorn will also be provided, according to the article.

According to IMDB, "the story takes place on planet Baab where admired astronaut Scorch Supernova (Brendan Fraser) is a national hero to the blue alien population. A master of daring rescues, Scorch pulls off astonishing feats with the quiet aid of his nerdy brother, Gary (Rob Corddry), head of mission control at BASA."
