Everyone is oblivious that South Merrick is destroyed. Yes, the houses are still standing, but they are gutted inside and the contents have all been discarded. What is Merrick doing? Nothing. Freeport, Seaford, Island Park, Bellmore, Long Beach all have civic communities and volunteer groups helping. I haven't heard of one event helping in Merrick. It's such a shame. I don't even have a Christmas tree this year.
