Merrick Students Create Valentines for Veterans

Editor's Note: This article was written by representatives of the Town of Hempstead.

Hempstead Town Councilwoman Angie M. Cullin recently congratulated the pupils who participated in the Valentines for Vets program at the Camp Avenue Elementary School, the Progressive School of Long Island, Calhoun High School, Levy-Lakeside Elementary School and Chatterton Elementary School.

Through this program, which the Town instituted in 2001, students create valentines to send to veterans at local VA hospitals.

Many of these men and women don’t have families and it means a lot to them to know that the young children appreciate them for the sacrifices they made for our nation.
