Lakeside to Host Eighth Annual Robbie's Run

The eighth annual Robbie’s Run will take place on April 28 at Levy-Lakeside Elementary School in Merrick.

Robbie’s Run will bring together thousands of runners, volunteers and other participants in a 5K road race and family festival to raise awareness of sudden cardiac death and money to buy defibrillators for youth sports fields to save lives.  Robbie’s Run, an event of Forever 9-The Robbie Levine Foundation, is sponsored by NFI Financial Advisors, Coleman Country Day Camps and Orlin & Cohen.

Robbie’s Run is a 5K road race through the streets of Merrick that was created in 2005 following the tragic death of nine-year-old Robbie Levine during Little League practice. Forever 9 sponsors the annual Robbie’s Run to raise awareness of sudden cardiac death and how AEDs save lives. The yearly Run raises thousands of dollars that have been used to supply youth sports organizations across the New York area with AEDs.

The festivities will begin with a kids’ fun run at 8:30 a.m. Following that will be a 1-mile mini run at 8:50 a.m., and then the 5K will commence at 9:15 a.m. There will be kids’ activities, a raffle and music throughout the morning.

More than one thousand runners will participate in the 5K.  Several thousand more people will be on hand to volunteer or simply enjoy the day’s family atmosphere. Fun and interactive kids’ activities include:
