Fundraiser Started For Calhoun Graduate Who Died of Cancer

Friends of Deborah Averso-Artz, a single mother who recently died of cancer, have started a fundraiser for her two young sons.

Friends of Deborah Averso-Artz, a single mother who recently died of cancer, have started a fundraiser for her two young sons, Brendan and Hunter. 

Averso-Artz grew up in Bellmore and graduated from Calhoun High School in 1990. She lived in Bellmore after completing college. 

"Deb had a contagious smile and lived life to the fullest," Joey Orloff, a close friend Averso-Artz, said. "She was a dedicated mother, daughter, sister and friend who's heart had no limits." 

One hundred percent of the proceeds will go into a trust for Averso-Artz's children.
