Police: Merrick Inmate at Nassau Jail Found with Drugs in Cell

Drugs were found during a search of the defendant's cell.

A Merrick inmate at the Nassau County Correctional Facility was allegedly found in possession of Oxycodone pills after a routine search of his cell Wednesday afternoon.

According to detectives, around 1:30 p.m., correction officers were searching the cell of 29-year-old Adam Gibson, who is incarcerated at the correctional facility in East Meadow. During the search, officers recovered two Oxycodone pills.

Gibson was transported to Nassau County Police Department Headquarters in Mineola for processing.

Gibson was charged with promoting prison contraband in the first degree. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
