April 25: Extended Vacation, Blood Drive

Five things you need to know today.

1. It's Monday. No worries, Merrick public schools are still closed, while Sacred Heart kids kick off their week off Monday. Enjoy everyone.

2. Looking to get physically fit in Merrick while living green? Check out the latest “Living Green and Healthy in Merrick” column at 2 p.m. for a list of some ideas.

3.  Merrick is highlighting yet another Whiz Kid this week. This Kennedy senior is already published for his scientific research. Know who it is? See if you are correct at 10 a.m.

4. Although the Eggstravaganza was rained out this year, don’t fear. There will be a special egg hunt this Saturday, so don’t lose your spring spirit yet. Check back later in the week for more details.

5. Do something nice for someone else and give blood. Assemblyman Tom McKevitt, in conjunction with Long Island Blood Services, is hosting a blood drive at the North Merrick Public Library. The drive will be going on from 2:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
