McDONOUGH READS TO STUDENTS AT OLD MILL ELEMENTARY

Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) recently visited students at Old Mill Road Elementary School as part of the Parent-Teacher Association’s (PTA) Parents As Reading Partners (PARP) Program – “Flex Your Muscles With Reading.” McDonough read “The Yellow Star,” by Carmen Agra Deedy, to students in Mrs. Walsh's fourth grade class and “The Teeny Tiny Teacher,” by Stephanie Calmenson, to students in Mrs. Kiderman’s first grade class.

“It was tremendously gratifying to speak with both groups of students; they were all extremely knowledgeable and showed a real passion for reading,” said McDonough. “PARP is an outstanding program and encouraging students to read is a valuable life lesson. I want to thank both teachers for allowing me to visit their classes.”
