New Performing Arts Center Opens in Merrick

Local dancers and performers have a new place to go in Merrick.

The Rising Arts Performing Arts Center recently held a ribbon cutting at 1750 A Merrick Ave, which is behind the Dunkin Donuts Shopping Center.

Owner Steve Silverstein had connections to people who work all over Long Island and also people that work on Broadway and throughout the industry.

“We’re going to bring Manhattan teachers to Long Island,” Silverstein said. “We have a dance teacher that comes from STEPS in Manhattan. For voice, they’re all very qualified, and either performed near or off Broadway.”

Silverstein also added that there will be shows put on at Rising Stars, and there will be an auditioning process. There will be full-blown musicals at the location as well.
