A new kosher butcher shop, For Goodness Steaks, is set to open on Merrick Road in Bellmore.
Richie Koumbis, an employee at the nearby Bella Notte, said that building at 2514 Merrick Road was once a deli.
"The building was closed for about four months," he said. "It's not good when you have a closed store, so anything that opens up is good."
In the coming weeks, more new businesses will be opening on Merrick Road, including Chocolate Works and Danny's Chinese Kitchen.
Sam Chen, owner of Golden Star Chinese Restaurant, located next door to the butcher shop said that he thinks the community will welcome the new shop.
"It's good for the people around here," he said. "It's convenient."
