Merrick Dentist Brings Practice to her Hometown

Dr. Rania Elbaz celebrated the official opening of her business with a ribbon cutting.

After Dr. Rania Elbaz settled with her family in Merrick in 1994, she wanted to come back, and that she did.

Elbaz now lives with her own family in the town and recently celebrated the opening of her own pediatric dentistry practice at 1469 Merrick Avenue with a ribbon cutting, attended by Merrick Chamber of Commerce representatives and local politicians.

"I am from Merrick and went to Calhoun. I always knew that I wanted to come back to Merrick and we have been looking for a space," Elbaz said.

Now that she found the space, the rest is starting to fall into place.

"We actually opened about three weeks ago and we have been quite busy, which is great," she told Patch."It's really exciting."

Randy Shotland, president of the Merrick Chamber of Commerce, was excited about the opening of the new business.

"We needed a thing like this here in Merrick," he said. "This office is kid-friendly and has a much more pleasent atmosphere than your average dentist office. This is a great addition to our community," said Shotland.

Elbaz, though, is not settling down just yet. "Right now, we are renting this space. Hopefully soon, everyone will be doing a ribbon cutting when we purchase a location," she said.
