Keys to Summer: Keep Your Locks Styling

Don't let your hair be a victim to heat and humidity this summer season.

Summer is such a trying time for tresses.

Ladies spend hours blasting heat on their hair to keep it straight, wavy or curly and full of plenty of shine. After spending all that time destroying their hair with hot irons, straighteners and the like, they walk outside, only to have the humidity take control and turn their strands into a poofy, frizzy disaster area.

Kick off the season by purifying your strands and leaving your problems behind for the season. Head to CVS and pick up the Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask to restore your hair to a healthy glow. Use it once a week for the best results.

Grabbing the first inexpensive shampoo and conditioner that you see at the store might be convenient, but it certainly will not help your hair. Take a few extra minutes to purchase a brand that is made especially for your hair type. Bring life back to thirsty strands with Aussie Moist Shampoo or pump up the volume by infusing Fekkai Full Volume Shampoo into your daily hair care routine.

Beachy summer waves do not need to come with a burning hot curling iron or waver. Pick up a bottle of Garnier Fructis Style Wonder Waves Wave-Enhancing Spray or the Aussie Sprunch Catch the Wave Strong Hold Hair Spray. Simply spritz either of them onto your damp tresses, and let the warm outdoor air do the rest of the work on your drive to work or a walk around the park. Air drying your hair once in a while will give you the fresh, vibrant and natural feel that summer is truly all about.

When the warmer months come around, many people are in want-or need-of a shorter style or a lighter color for summer.

Instead of bleaching your hair with a solution from a box and risking the dreaded orange tone, Visit one of the local salons, such as Maximus Spa and Salon, Thomas & Co. Hair Studio or Cactus Salon and Spa to get that perfect shade and perfect cut.

At Maximus Spa and Salon, they use a technique called Ombre hair coloring, which takes hair from the darkest shade to the lightest shade which “[renders] the hair absent of any noticeable color pattern,” according to the establishment’s website.

Prices for this new and innovative technique, which also includes a blow dry finish, start at $185 and go upward.
