Keep the Night Life Alive All Summer

Enjoy the warm summer breeze until all hours.

Summer Fridays and an overall more relaxed feel grace the island with their presence.

Put the work tie and business casual suit away while you enjoy the night life scene that Merrick has to offer.

Happy hours give workers and beach-goers alike need a place to relax and mingle at the end of a long day.

Head to the Vine Wine Bar Mondays through Fridays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for half priced beer and select wines. Before the week begins, visit the locale on Sundays for special pricing on Vine Wine's three signature Sangrias, frozen bellinis and other blends.

While these refreshing hours tend to be a bit scarce on weekends, look no further than Menna's Main Event. On Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., indulge in $1 mugs, $3 bottles, $2.50 house drinks, $2.50 pints and $1 off other drink selections.

Looking for a night that is a bit more active than just sitting at the bar? Jugs-n-Strokers features live music on Wednesdays, open mic night on Thursdays and live rock bands on Fridays and Saturdays.

For some classic tunes and a night that channelsTuscan evening, visit Guy Anthony's Buon Appetito. Each Thursday for the remainder of June, the Doug Debin Duo is live at the piano with jazz, classics and standards.

With little ones, nights tend to end earlier, and they cannot always involving listening to music at the local Italian restaurant. The Merrick Pool is open until 7 p.m. and a visit there will entail swimming, arts and crafts, volleyball, pedal boating and more-which is just enough to tire little ones out so you can enjoy a glass of wine on the front stoop with the neighbors.

Put the youngsters into their pajamas early and visit the Merrick Library every Wednesday night from 7 p.m. to 7:30pm for Pajama Storytime, which is designed for children ages 3 1/2 to 6. An array of night classes are available for children and adults at the library.
