Vehicle Causes Damage at Merrick American Legion, Flees from Scene

The Merrick American Legion Post #1282 is seeking the community's help in identifying the person(s) responsible for damaging their property at 160 West Merrick Rd. sometime between late Thursday evening and early Friday morning.

According to a release put out by the American Legion, the vehicle took out a green light pole, a no parking sign, a small tree, a small American Legion monument and a big mail box that is used to hold American flags.

The mail box was reportedly located approximately 200 feet from the front of the American Legion building. There was some damage to the front of the American Legion Building as well.

As of 8:30 p.m., the person(s) responsible for the damage have not been located. Any information on the incident should be reported to Nassau County's Seventh Precinct by calling 516-573-6700. 

The American Legion will have to bear the costs of repairs from damage done by this vehicle.
