Two Teens Busted for Attempted Robbery Near Fayette

Two teens were arrested for attempted robbery in North Merrick Saturday night, police said.

According to detectives, a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male approached a 17-year-old male in front of Harold D. Fayette School at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The suspects allegedly blocked the victim's path and demanded his property, police said. 

Cops in the area observed the incident taking place, and the teenagers fled the scene, but they were apprehended a short time later near Merrick Avenue and were arrested without incident, police added. No injuries were reported and no property was taken during the incident.

The 16-year-old suspect was charged with attempted robbery and his arraignment is scheduled for Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead. The 15-year-old was also charged with attempted robbery, and he will appear at Family Court for arraignment on Oct. 10.
