Mepham Student Approached by Stranger

The man, described as Hispanic, asked the female student where she goes to school before she ran into her house.

A Mepham High School student was approached by a stranger while walking home from school Monday, according to an email to parents from Principal Michael Harrington.

"After school today, one of our students was approached by a man in a black sedan with a license plate number ending with “7474,” Harrington said. "The person was described as a Hispanic male. He asked the female student, "Where do you go to school?"

The student didn't respond and ran into her house. The police were notified, and Harrington made an announcement Tuesday morning to advise kids to travel in small groups while walking home.

"I would ask you to speak with your children as well about this and other safety precautions," Harrington added.
