Seventh and ninth grade students learn what is expected of them this academic school year.

Seventh and ninth grade students were recently introduced to their new schools in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District during orientation sessions that were created to help them prepare for their new academic year.

During the sessions, students learned about their new schools, academics, extracurricular actives and the expectations of the faculty and staff.

Incoming seventh-graders atMerrick Avenue and Grand Avenue middle schools were welcomed to the district by administrators.

At CalhounKennedy and Mephamhigh schools, incoming ninth-graders were introduced to various administrators and staff members, who will play a role in their high school transition.

“It’s wonderful to see the energy and excitement of all students, staff and faculty as the first day of school quickly approaches,”  Superintendent John DeTommaso said. “Orientations serve as a bridge in the transition process from one academic and social environment to another."

Schools within the Bellmore-Central High School District will open on Sept. 9.
