MAMS PTA Welcomes Back Students

The Merrick Avenue Middle School PTA announces important dates and events

Editor's note: This letter was submitted by Dominique Tirino, president of the Merrick Middle Avenue School PTA.

The start of the 2013-2014 school year is quickly approaching and the Merrick Avenue Middle School PTA would like to extend a warm welcome back to our returning students, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators, as well as a warm welcome to our new families.  We hope you are having a relaxing and enjoyable summer and are looking forward to an exciting and productive school year.

Orientation for incoming 7th graders will be on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 10 a.m.  This is a great time to become familiar with the building; please remember to bring your schedules and locker combinations.  This is also the perfect opportunity to meet members of your PTA Executive Committee.  PTA will have a table set up in the lobby for membership and Spiritwear sales and we would love to answer any questions you may have.

Our first PTA meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12 at  7 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Please join us!  Attending PTA meetings is your lifeline to school information. The success of our PTA is built on cooperative efforts and we greatly appreciate your ideas, concerns and participation.

As we begin the new school year, we want to thank the many parents who have generously volunteered their time in the past and continue to support the PTA.  We encourage everyone to become an involved member; please remember to send in your membership forms and dues.

Through our membership drive, our fundraising efforts, and your generous support, we are able to sponsor several activities and programs that benefit our children.  Funds from PTA are used to provide cultural arts programs including speakers and assemblies, 7th grade field day, the 8th grade picnic and ice cream truck day.

We look forward to seeing you at our PTA meetings and please remember to check your school calendar and website for all of the monthly events.  Let’s work together to make this a great year for our children!
