Safety Project to Begin on Hewlett Avenue Tuesday

Senator Charles Fuschillo urged the NYSDOT to explore new safety improvements at the intersection on behalf of residents.

The installation of the new left-hand turn signal on Hewlett Avenue and Sunrise Highway is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, according to New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) officials.

Senator Charles Fuschillo said that he urged the NYSDOT to explore new safety improvements at the intersection on behalf of residents who expressed concerns that the intersection was dangerous for pedestrians and motorists.

After conducting an investigation of accident analysis and field observations of the area, the NYSDOT determined that the installation of a southbound left-hand turn arrow was appropriate.
