Not Just Books: This Week's Library Events

There are a variety of things going on at the Merrick and North Merrick libraries this week.

Many people would be surprised to find out how many things actually go on at the library. Most things at the Merrick and North Merrick libraries are even free to residents.

Monday night at the Merrick Library, there is an SAT prep workshop at 6:30 p.m. and The Historical Society of the Merricks meeting at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, the Merrick Library hosts Kindergarten Storytime at 4 p.m. Intermediate yoga classes with Jeanne McElwain continues at 5:30 p.m. Beginner Mah Jongg is also being offered at 6:45 p.m. Play Hooray registration for babies 3 to 17 months and kids 18 months to 3 ½ years begins at the North Merrick Library today at 10 a.m., then Tots Night Out from 7 to 8 p.m.

Wednesday, the Merrick Library is offering an all-levels yoga class at 9:15 a.m., Advanced Tai-Chi Yang style at 11:00 a.m. and a Creative Writing Workshop for teens at 4:15 p.m. At the North Merrick Library, there is Just We Two at 10:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., plus an American Girl Tea Party for grades 1 to 5 at 7 p.m. Don't forget to bring your doll and a tea cup.

Thursday at the Merrick Library, join 3 Year Old Storytime at 10:30 a.m. and 4 Year Old Storytime at 1:30 p.m. The North Merrick Library will have the Teen Advisory Board meeting at 4 p.m. and the LIRR Parking committee Meeting at 6:30 p.m., followed by the LIRR Station & Services meeting at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, the Merrick Library hosts Parent/Child 1,2,3 at 10:30 a.m. and their weekly Friday Film at 2 p.m. The North Merrick Library has a Book Discussion with Marureen Murphy slated for 1:30 p.m. and a “Where the Wild Things Are” Collage Craft at 4:30 p.m.
