Not Just Books: This Week's Library Events

There are a variety of things going on at the Merrick and North Merrick libraries this week.

Many people would be surprised to find out how many things actually go on at the library. Most things at the Merrick and North Merrick libraries are even free to residents.

Monday at the Merrick Library, No Impact Exercise classes continue at 12 p.m. The North Merrick Library will have the Teen Advisory Board meeting at 4 p.m. and the North Merrick Community Association meeting at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, the Merrick Library will have the Intellectual Freedom Committee meeting at 10 a.m., then The History of Johannes Vermeer, hosted by Louise Cella Caruso at 2 p.m. and the Merrick Library Board of Trustees monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Register for Play Hooray at the North Merrick Library beginning at 10 a.m. and the North Merrick Board meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday, the Merrick Library has Toddler Storytime at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., the Creative Writing Workshop for young adults at 4:15 and Mystery Lover's Book Club at 7:30 p.m. The North Merrick Library has a film festival beginning at 1:30 p.m. and registration for the Marshmallow Pilgrim Hat craft begins at 7 p.m.

Thursday at the Merrick Library brings Tai Chi from the Arthritis Foundation at 10 a.m. and a special event for young adult Twilight fans – the Breaking Dawn Party begins at 6:30 p.m. The North Merrick Library hosts LEGO Club for Tweens at 4 p.m. and Speech Group at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday, the Merrick Library has Parent/Child 1,2,3 at 10:30 a.m., then 3 Year Old Storytime at 1:30 p.m. and the return of Friday Films at 2 p.m. The North Merrick Library will have a book discussion moderated by John Walsh at 1:30 p.m. and Girl Scout troop 2156 meets at 4:30 p.m.
