North Merrick Library Trustee Position Open

The North Merrick Library is looking for individuals to step forward and run for a seat on the library board that was vacated.

Recently, Carol Anthony needed to leave the North Merrick Library board. The Library will be replacing her position and is seeking nominess for the vacant seat on the board.

Individuals who reside within the North Merrick community who are at least 18 years of age and are U.S. citizens are encouraged to consider running for the position of trustee.

The board meets with the director on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. The term length for the position is five years.

Library trustees discuss library business and adopt policies governing library operations and services at monthly meetings. The board is also responsible for approving the budget, monitoring expenditures and long range planning. 

Petitions to run for the position are available at the library administration office and from the library clerk at the Harold D. Fayette School. Petitions must be signed by at least 25 qualified community members.

The deadline for submitting a completed petition to the district clerk is March 26. The trustee election and budget vote will be held at the library on April 25.
