Merrick Library to Host Superbowl Blood Drive

All donors will be entered into a sweepstakes for one pair of tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII.

Merrick Public Library, in conjunction with New York Blood Center, will host its Super Bowl Blood Drive  on Monday. 

The 2014 Super Bowl Host Committee has partnered with New York Blood Center to help increase blood donations leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII.

All presenting donors with New York Blood Center between now and Jan. 17, 2014 will be entered into a sweepstakes for one pair of tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII, valued at $2,500.

The more an individual donates, the more times they will be entered. 

According to New York Blood Services, in order for participants to donate blood, they must meet the following requirements:

  • Must bring an ID with a signature or photo
  • Must be a minimum of 110 pounds
  • Must be the ages of 16 to 76 (16 year olds must have parental permission and people over the age of 76 need a doctor’s note)
  • Must eat well and drink fluids beforehand
  • No tattoos in the past 12 months
The drive will take place  at the library from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
