Important Letter From The Assistant Principal of John F Kennedy High - Ms Eileen Connolly

An Important Notice From Eileen Connolly, Assistant Principal at John F. Kennedy High School Re: Hall of Fame Recognition Dinner   Dear Friends, I truly hope that you and your family are safe. My thoughts and prayers are with those suffering from the effects of Super Storm Sandy. As you can imagine, the coastal communities of Bellmore and Merrick suffered great damage during the storm and upon our return to school on Wednesday, November 7th, we learned that many students were either displaced from their homes altogether or lost clothing and school supplies. It will take quite some time before their families can re-build. As you know, we are scheduled to hold our “Hall of Fame/Cougar Nation Wall of Honor” Dinner and Recognition Ceremony on Saturday, December 1st at the Coral House in Baldwin. Nine outstanding alumni (Susan Katz Holland ’69, Steve Hunte ’73, Artie Kempner ’77, Joan Littman Landry ’84, Steve Levy ’83, Gary Morganstern ’73, Adam Schefter ’85, Larry Scott ’82 and Ron Steiger ’72) and four retired faculty members (Fred Cohen, Alan Berkowsky, Alan Fleischman and Bob Wigand) will be honored. Instead of raising funds for scholarships, any proceeds from that evening will be used to provide essential provisions (food and clothing) and school supplies for those students most affected from Kennedy High School.  I anticipate that we will purchase supermarket gift cards and retail clothing cards to be distributed in time for the holiday season. More than ever before, your help is needed. Please, please consider doing one of the following to support students and families from your alma mater: Ø  Attend the Hall of Fame Dinner/Recognition Dinner on December 1st. Information to purchase a ticket is on the alumni association website www.bellmorejfkalumni.org. Ø  Make a donation (any amount appreciated) and mail to me at the address below. Checks can be made payable to “John F. Kennedy High School”. Please mark “Relief Efforts” on the bottom of the check. Ø  Take a business or personal ad in our commemorative journal (deadline Nov. 16th). Information is available through the “Hall of Fame” link on the alumni webpage listed above. Again, all funds raised will assist those students within our community. Please come out and support your classmates and celebrate all the good that is part of the Kennedy High School tradition. We aim to help in the healing process and with everyone’s efforts, together we can provide support to our families in need. Thank you, in advance, for your support of those in need who are part of our wonderful COUGAR NATION! Sincerely, Eileen Connolly Assistant Principal John F. The School board is a bunch of morons if they want to remove this designation! There were 0 problemsRead More like this when Malucci was in office, this new superintendent is a waste of space, money, and cares more about his own paycheck then our kids! Between school security, and now this, I motion that we get rid of that skell!

Bless you, Anthony. And though I know ultimately the "Judge" will have to be heldRead More accountable by a higher authority...those of us who do this work, have not forgotten nor will we allow the system to forget what her role in this travesity was.

Thank you for this wonderful article on a good man pushed to the brink. I appriciate the fact thisRead More came form the heart and did not hold back. As Sacristan at Cure of Ars, I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Rich (as I called him) for some time. He was a man of faith and a pleasure to see. Always with a smile and kind word, you would never know what was going on the way he acted. This was a wonderful and insightful article. It is heartbreaking to think that where there was once love between 2 people, things got to the point where one persons life was destroyed by those who could and did for no apparent reason other than having the ability to do so. God will have mercy on Dr. Rich and the ex-wife and "Judge" should pray for the same given their actions.
