1. Sacred Heart Fashion Show and Cocktail Party

Where/When:  Sacred Heart Parochial School, Friday, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Why Go:  Tap into your inner fashionista and see the styles and accessories of your local shops and salons. While most of the proceeds benefit the school, 10 percent goes to the Heart Center at St. Francis Hospital, and you’ll have the chance to win raffle prizes.

2. All Levels Yoga

Where/When:  Merrick Library, Multipurpose Room B, Saturday, 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.

Why Go: Yoga is still a great way to lose weight and get in shape while providing a mental workout. Registered yoga instructor Jeanne McElwain will have you touching your toes before you know it. 

Pricing:  $30, checks payable to The Merrick Library

3. Thunderbox

When/Where: Jugs -n- Strokers, Saturday, 10 p.m.

Why Go: Watch metal/rock band Thunderbox bring up the energy in the bar. Besides, live music and free admission before 8 p.m. makes a great night out for adults on a budget.

Pricing: Free before 8 p.m.; $5 after

4. Jugs –n- Strokers Barbeque Lunch

When/Where: Jugs -n- Strokers, Sunday, 12 p.m.

Why Go:  Get to sample free barbeque with all of the fixings, take advantage of drink specials – including $2 beers - and watch a sports game or two.

5. Super Bowl Fun, Sunday, 6 p.m.

When/Where: Super Bowl Sunday, various bars around Merrick

Why Go: Drink and food specials are making their way to Merrick in order to help you have the best Super Bowl Sunday ever. There are free buffets, barbeques and $2 beers. Don't want to go out? Local catering businesses have you covered, allowing you to tailor your Super Bowl party to the needs of your crowd.
