North and Central Civic Association President Claudia Borecky recently provided an update to locals regarding the repavement of Merrick’s Campgrounds, known by some as “Tiny Town.”

Half of the neighborhood had already been re-paved, Borecky said, but the delay by the Town of Hempstead in finishing the job had some residents worried that costs related to Superstorm Sandy will prevent the job from ever being finished.
However, Borecky assured residents that is not the case.
“At the Feb. 18 Town Board meeting, Supervisor Kate Murray assured me that the Campgrounds will be paved in 2013,” Borecky said. “Although the money has yet to be bonded for the project.”

A) It looks like crap, to be blunt. B) Now half the street is much more worn than the other half. That'll be lovely to repair after a snowstorm next winter when the two halves start to divide from ice separation.
