Members and friends of the Merrick Jewish Centre will make history when they gather to break the Guinness World Record for most menorahs lit at one time. In 2009, a group in Moscow set a Guinness World Record by lighting 358 menorahs. Now, the Merrick Jewish Centre is rallying its members, friends, neighbors and the broader community to break that record. Participants are asked to bring one menorah and three candles per person to the giant menorah-lighting party. Local government officials and community groups will join Merrick Jewish Centre members in their quest to celebrate religious freedom and fulfill the tradition of making known the miracle of Hanukkah by lighting hundreds of menorahs.
