Denenberg was re-elected on Nov. 8 as legislator of the 19th district.
The following is from Legis. Dave Denenberg (D-Merrick): Thank you for re-electing me as county legislator for the 19th legislative district. It is a privilege and honor to serve on your behalf. It is also extremely humbling to be re-elected by an increasing plurality. I will continue to try to be as accessible, responsive and effective as possible. To that end, I continue to maintain my district office at my own expense, hold at least two public meetings per month and make my office available to assist on any and all issues. Please contact me at my office, the numbers and/or email address listed below. It is essential to put people and issues before politics. Indeed, now, more than ever, we need to work together at every level to secure a…

Local residents share their views on the 2011 election.
Merrick voters took to the polls early Tuesday morning to play their part in the 2011 local elections. Primary concerns lingering through the community for this year's voting included taxes, the current economy and employment in Nassau County. August's failed Nassau Coliseum vote for a new arena was also a hot topic on voter's minds. A lifelong Bellmore-Merrick resident, John, was disappointed in the county's decision to rule out the coliseum referendum, especially when it could have brought in several job opportunities. "I was a strong supporter of redoing the whole coliseum," he explained. "I think they could have done a lot of things there. I really think there's a lot of parts, not necessarily in Bellmore-Merrick, but on Long Island …

Town says no medication information is included on the ID cards.
Hempstead Town officials responded Monday afternoon to claims made by Steve Anchin, the Democratic candidate for Hempstead Town Clerk, about the town's senior ID program. Last week, Anchin claimed that the ID cards were "dangerous" due to ever-changing medication and prescription information. But the Town of Hempstead responded Monday by saying that no such information exists on the ID cards, specifically for that reason. "Because of the reason that senior's medication changes, we did not include that in the program," said Mike Deery, a spokesman for the town. "... It includes emergency contact …
