VIDEO: Nassau Republicans Rally at Levittown Hall
GOP head Joe Mondello introduced the crowd to all of the candidates in supervisor, legislator, judge and council races.
Thursday night was rally night for the Republicans running for positions in County and Town governments across Nassau.
The rally took place at Levittown Hall in Hicksville. GOP chair Joseph Mondello introduced the candidates to the Republican constituents. Many of the candidates, as well as Republican leaders not up for election, spoke in an effort to rally their supporters in an effort to get a significant turnout for Tuesday's elections.

If GOP chair Joseph Mondello had any class, he would have resigned years ago. His leadership brought Nassau County to bankruptcy. When other companies went under, there CEO, left. He is why a staunch conservative like me, pulls the leaver for a Democrat

Levittown Hall is a municipal building and should not be used for partisan political rallies. I hope the Republicans reimburse the tax payers for the cleanup, the electric bill, and the OT for the Town worker (Mike) who keeps that place spotless.

Yankee, they have to. Do you get upset when the democrats use the County owned Cradle of Aviation museum for their event?
And Sinking, no staunch conservative would vote for a Republican or Democrat, they vote Conservative!

The Republicans don't have to use Levittown Hall, they could have used the Marriott (and paid), or the Republican HQ. Instead they choose to use a public facility for partisan ways. I know almost everyone that works in the hall, and I have attended N. Levittown Republican meeting there (HI Bruce). So I am not being partisan, but defending my ideology. This Republican event, if not paid for by the NCRC should be. Let's protect the tax-payer and not the political bosses. I put this question to the PATCH - Did the Republicans pay to rent the Levittown Hall for this rally?

Does Mr Dunne remember that he has been part of the mess. Tom Suozzi also inherited a mess from Tom Gulotta. Dunne has been on board all along. Dunne, Schmidt, and Mangano, you have all been around for along time, quit blaming others, you knew what you were getting into.. earn your paycheck or move on ..

Privatize the buses, privatize the sewer system, close museums, close police precincts and Ra...Ra....Ra........eat your heart out Pottersville.

Wha short memories Schmitt, Mondello, etc. have. The problems started way before Suozzi. He won election because of the ineptness of Gulotta. Keep thinking its about a tax freeze, people. That what the Republicans want; its a diversion to mask their patronage and corruption. Vote for them and you endorse the continued fleecing of our County and TOH.

Union concessions.....sis-boom-bah......layoffs,furloughs.....Ra...Ra....Ra.
Seriously, the whole thing boils down to fairness and fiscally conservative decisions. In this time of crisis, why not ask for shared sacrifice? Why not cut all departments by the same percentage and all workers from top to bottom by the same percentage so that percentage doesn't have to be so high like the targeted concessions the county is now seeking.
How can the elected officials of this county ask police officers and union workers to make sacrifices and concessions that they are not willing to make themselves.

"How can the elected officials of this county ask police officers and union workers to make sacrifices and concessions that they are not willing to make themselves."
Phillip, the police department is largely responsible for Manganos election. They campaigned very hard against Suozzi because he was 'threatening the standard of living' of Nassau County residents. They campaigned very successfully for Mangano because they believed that the Republican would be kinder to law enforcement. So what does it mean when the left and the right both treat the police union (by the way, a union is a socialist organization) the same?

Wouldn't the unions be more inclined to make concessions if all county workers, lawmakers, staff, consultants and departments were to equally take part?
Patrick

Of course they would, but who wants to agree to concessions. That's precisely why these organizations have formed a union. They don't wont to be 'equal'. They want the power to be 'collectively selfish'. Why do you think that Suozzi (Democrat) and Mangano (Republican) are so despised by the PBA? Because they both want the insanity to stop. They both wanted the gravy train to pull into the station. But this train has no plans on doing so - it wants to plow on, full speed ahead, until the wheels fall off.

The wheels are loose and the train is about to crash. Taxpayers cannot afford these excesses, and the cops need to face the reality of the situation. While they do an excellent job, they are overpaid. Yes, the cost of living on LI is high, but their compenation package is one of the reasons.

I hope they attend the peoples rally today in front of Cedar Creek Park at 12:00pm in Wantagh-Seaford. The "Preserve and Protect" rally seeks to address issues like privatization of our sewer system and police precinct closures.

Again Kate Murray fails to tell residents that she is using $30 million in reserves to give us a tax freeze, $12 million more than last year. Spending is increasing $11.8 million.
In summary, take a look at what Kate accomplished while she was Supervisor And yes, she does approve Special District budgets, she just doesn't want to admit to it.
