Truck Fire Causes Delays on Sunrise Highway

The fire shut down traffic in the area on Wednesday morning.

A truck fire closed Sunrise Highway in Merrick at about 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

The westbound lane of the road was closed for about half an hour at Hewlett Avenue, according to a fire department source, while the flames were brought under control.

The Merrick Fire Department was called to the scene and was able to extinguish the fire. Nassau County Police were also on the scene.
