New York State Senate Honors Veteran Bill Halleran

The Senate recently passed a legislative resolution memorializing his life.

The New York State Senate recently passed a legislative resolution to honor the life of WWII veteran and Merokean, William "Bill" Halleran. Halleran passed away in December at the age of 93.

The initative was lead by Senator Charles Fuschillo, R-Merrick, and will make sure that Halleran's accomplishments and record of service will forever be part of the New York State Senate’s official record.

“Bill Halleran was a very special person who loved his country and community and served them both with distinction," Fuschillo said. "Whether it was as a member of the Navy, as an American Legion member, or a volunteer fireman, Bill never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need. I’m pleased that the Senate paid tribute to an incredible man who leaves behind an incredible legacy."

In addition to being a Pearl Harbor survivor and a WWII veteran, Halleran was an active member of and served in the for more than 60 years.
