Merrick Lawyer Honored for Pro Bono Work

Nassau Bar Association names James Joseph as its Pro Bono Attorney of the Month.

Merokean James P. Joseph has been named the Pro Bono Attorney of the Month for June, according to a statement released by the Nassau County Bar Association.

Over the past six years, Joseph has devoted more than 166 hours to the Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) and its clients, often with contributions from his partner, David Teeter, and his staff.

Joseph enjoys tackling a challenging legal case, especially if it involves working pro bono on a complicated matrimonial case, the statement said.

"It's our firm's practice to always have at least one pro bono case active," Joseph said. "The attorneys in our firm all are committed to giving back to our community, both professionally and personally.  Quite frankly, we also find the work we do for VLP incredibly rewarding."

Nassau County Bar Association President Marc Gann tabbed Joseph for the honor of Pro Bono Attorney of the Month.
