Merrick Fire Department Holds Installation Ceremony
A new chief and assistant chief were installed at the event.
The Merrick Fire Department recently held it's 88th annual installation ceremony.
At the ceremony, Thomas Fernandez, Jr. was named the new department chief, replacing the outgoing chief, Frank Vanderlofske. In addition, Michael Gargen was dubbed the assistant chief.
Senator Charles Fuschillo, Jr. and Assemblyman David McDonough were also present at the event to congratulate the incoming officers and recognize the outgoing ones for their hard work and dedication.
