Crime Report: Five Home Burglaries in a Week

A look at recent crime as reported by the First and Seventh precincts.

  • A residence on Sherman Avenue was burglarized sometime between Nov. 5-8. Entry was gained through a pried open rear window; assorted jewelry was stolen. Three males were observed in a white Dodge Charger in the area. Two of the males went to the front door of the home, looked in the window and then went back to the car.

  • A contractor on Whaleneck Drive reported that someone broke into his tool trailer and removed approximately $10,000 worth of hand tools, power tools and a gas powered electric generator sometime between Nov. 8-9. The complainant also stated that approximately $15,000-$20,000 in additional building supplies were taken.

  • A residence on Thelma Avenue was burglarized on Nov. 10.  Entry was gained through an unlocked front door. Cash and assorted jewelry were stolen.

  • The front and rear windshields of a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta parked in a parking lot next to a residence on Washington Avenue were broken on Nov. 10.

  • A home on Arbor Lane was broken into on Nov. 12 sometime between 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. Access to the home was gained through a rear unlocked window and jewelry was reporter stolen.

  • A home on Clubhouse Road was broken into on Nov. 12 sometime between 7:45 p.m.- 8 p.m. Access was gained through a second floor rear bathroom window and jewelry was reported stolen. 

  • An apartment on Sunrise Highway was broken into on Nov. 12 sometime between 7:38 p.m.- 9:50 p.m. Access was gained through a rear sliding glass door. Jewelry and cash were reported stolen.  

  • Two males wearing dark clothes were seen running away from the driveway of a residence on E. Loines Avenue on Nov. 13.  A resident came out to discover the two front tires slashed and the driver's side rear window smashed on a 2003 Chevrolet.
