Calhoun Freshman Battle Cyber-Bullying

The high school provides students with information about internet safety and bullying on the internet.

The ninth grade students at Calhoun participated in two assemblies about bullying, cyber-bullying, and internet safety recently.

The high school hosted Jeremy Glicksman, a Nassau County assistant district attorney, talked to the students about the need to think before they send anything online. He gave examples of students who were caught up in cyber-bullying, sexting, and even families who were robbed due to posting messages about being out of their home on social networking sites.

The students also heard a personal story from Jamie Isaacs, 14. She was a victim of bullying and cyber-bullying for a number of years and was instrumental in helping to pass legislation against bullying and cyber-bullying in Suffolk County.
