On Tuesday, February 11, 2011, The Merrick Lions Club presented a check of $12,000.00 to America’s VetDogs which will be used to train service dogs to assist disabled veterans.  On December 7, 2010, The Merrick Lions Club presented a check of $5,500.00 to the National Amputation Foundation which will be used for their adaptive ski program and family outreach dinners at Walter Reed Army Hospital. The funds were raised by Merrick Lions Club project, Purple Heart Pups First Annual 3K Walk and Family Festival in October, 2010.  The next Purple Heart Pups event will be a Dog Walk in the Spring.
